Accessibility & Aging at Home

You have probably spent a lot of time and money making your home just the way you want it.  And if with so many memories, understandably you are probably not in a hurry to leave.  More and more people wish to stay independent in their own home for longer, and there are adaptations that could make your everyday life easier.

There are many different types of equipment and adaptations available, depending on what you may need help with.

Some will be more expensive than others and may require home modification.  Examples of home adaptations include:

  • A ramp or hand rails for the front door

  • Outdoor lights for better visibility

  • Grab rails or a second bannister

  • Repositioning or widening doors for wheelchair access.

  • A walk-in bath

  • A wheelchair accessible sink.
